The states origins were unique in Australia as a freely settled planned British province rather than a convict settlement witch began on the 28 December 1836 but the fist recorded European sighting of the South Australian coast was in 1627 by the Dutch and mapped in 1802 by Matthew Flinders and Nicolas Baudin and in 1834 the British Parliament passed South Australia Act 1834 which lead to the establishment of South Australia. Located in the southern central part of Australia with population of 1.6 million and Adelaide being its capital South Australia is the Great Australian Bight with beautiful coast lines and whale watching seasons, that borders several states and territories with the most arid land in Australia with the capital of the world opals located in Coober Pedy which was discovered in 1915. With the states economy is mainly agricultural, mining, manufacturing industries.
